About Us

Moshang Events exists as a social platform to connect content creators like yourself with the greater fandom. Our mission is to achieve a community based collaboration space where content creators can come together and develop their skills. We are dedicated to providing a comfortable workshop where we respect all points of view and diverse perspectives in an effort to combine the creative potential of people in order to advocate, educate, and innovate with the power of inspirational stories.

The Moshang Events Mod Team create events from feedback from the fandom through surveys and interests check.
Anyone can contact us to suggest an event as well!

How can I join events

Anyone can participate in any moshang event without joining our server or following on Twitter. Still, we believe it is best to join our server for community, sprints, and encouragement!

General Info

What is a Big Bang?
A bang is a collaborative fandom effort between fanfiction writers and fan artists. A ** BIG BANG** is a fandom event that leads to an explosion of fan content, usually fan art and fanfiction.
In a Big Bang, writes submit summaries of the story they plan to write. The Big Bang organizers collect and lists them from artist to review and create accompanying artwork. The challenge usually involves long fics and several pieces of artwork.

Who is this Big Bang for?The #MEBigBang2021 is a fandom challenge event where artists and authors who are fans of the pairing Shang Qinghua and Mobei Jun from Scum Villain Self Saving System are paired up and work together to collaborate on a fanwork project that includes one ONE 10k+ written work and TWO to THREE pieces of artwork!How can I Participate?You can sign up as an Author, Artist, and/or Beta. If you sign up as an Artist, you are not allowed to sign up as an Author, and vice versa. You CAN sign up as a Beta while already participating as an Artist or Author, but please be aware that this will add to your workload.

How Does it work?Here is a chronological order of what will happen!-On Jan 9th, Sign-ups for Authors will open. The application will be a google form where we will require contact info and a 400-word pitch of the fic you are planning to write for this event. The form will be open until Jan 30th and you will be able to edit your app until the form closes. Authors may begin working at their 1st rough draft of this fic at this time.-On Feb 1st, We will post a google form for Artists to sign up.-From Feb 11th-17th, Moshang Events will post a link to a slideshow-style PDF with all the submitted Author summaries for Artists to view and read. Artists must then pick three that they would like to partner with.This claim slideshow will only show; a pitch summary, state if the fic will be NSFW/SFW, a rating, and any warnings/tags. Artists will not know who the Author is until after team assignments have been made.From Feb 18th-20th, Moshang Events will open the claim form, where Artists can claim the pick they want.Artists get first-come, first-served claims, meaning that not all will get the first Author they picked. However, if someone else claims your first choice Author, the Artist will be given their 2nd or 3rd possible picks.On Feb 25th, Mods will send out communication about the pairing assignments!Assigned Pairs will have from FEB 25th to Sept 25th to work on their collaborations!There will be monthly pairing check-ins, and all projects must be done by Sept 25th, 2023!Pairs will be assigned a day to post their works that week, on their own social platforms and Ao3!__ What if I need more time?__Please contact mods about extensions.Can I come with a collaborative partner already?At this time, we are NOT accepting predetermined pairs!What happens if there are more Authors than there are Artists or vice versa?If there are more Authors than Artists, the artist sign-up period will be extended in the hopes that new people will join. However, if the numbers still aren’t enough, Artists that signed up as pinch hitters will be asked if they would like to take on any of the unpaired Authors. More leeway is given to these pinch hitters; the Mods will allow them more time to complete their art.If more Artists than Authors sign up, Mods will give them the option to wait and see if any Artists drop out, or they can choose to partner with an Author who has an Artist already. This means some fics might have up to two different Artists.If I’m under 18, am I still allowed to participate?No. Scum Villain is an 18+ novel with canon materials and elements not suited for minors.

This Event is for fun, and should not be stressful. Please communicate with the Mods at any point, as soon as possible if you have any problems. We are here to facilitate any issues. Please communicate with us!We will be communicating with all participants via the #MoshangEvents discord. If you do not have a Discord when you sign up, you will be asked to make one.”**__ What counts for social media accounts? Does Tumblr count?

What if I change my username on any of my social media or deactivate?Please inform a Mod about it as soon as possible, they will update your profile in our files. In case of deactivation, we will have a conversation on:Authors: Posting Anon on Ao3.Artists: Posting your art within the Ao3 fic post.How do I communicate with my partner?You will be given information on how to contact your partner according to what they put on their signup sheet!Communication with your partner is up to your discretion, in whichever form you both choose. Mods are available to help facilitate, as well as an open discord.What happens if my partner stops responding/never responds?If your partner has stopped replying or has not made contact at all, please contact a Mod. There might be circumstances preventing them from doing so. If they are unable to continue with the project, we will start reassignment to a pinch hitter__ What if I have a problem with my partner?__
Please reach out to the mods about any issues and we will work with you to resolve concerns, or reassign you if need be.

Pinch Hitter FAQ

What are pinch hitters?Pinch hitters are authors/artists who are interested in helping out in case a participant drops out. If this happens, the pinch hitter will have the option to accept or deny any requests. The Mod team will never force someone to be a pinch hitter or to accept requests they aren’t comfortable with.

How do check-ins work?Monthly pairing check-ins will be on the 1st of each month.Mods will contact you through your preferred form of communication for a soft check-in.Mods will ask-if things are progressing well;
-if you need any support; and
-if you are still on track to make it to your deadline.Don't hesitate to let us know if you have any issues, or if you won't be able to finish in time so we can find a pinch hitter in time!What if I need to drop out?If you have to drop the event, please notify a Mod and your partner as soon as possible so that the Mods can try to find a pinch hitter if one is needed.What are extensions and how do we obtain them?Extensions are if you need extra time beyond the check-in dates and/or the final deadline. To get one, all you need to do is ask a mod and discuss it with your partner. The duration of the extension will depend on your circumstances.

What is the word count for this event?We are requiring 10,000 words at the very least and a soft limit of 30k.** Is the 30k words for writers a hard limit?**Writers are welcome to write more if they wish, as long as they are able to finish their piece within the timeframe of the event. The goal is to have a completed piece, so we’d suggest planning towards 30k, and if you go over, that’s ok!Can I write a fic that has chapters?Yes, you can write chaptered fics. However, it must be completed by final check-in.Can writers use a WIP or spin-off of a shorter piece?
For the sake of this event, the writing piece must be considered “new.” This means it cannot have been posted anywhere and must have less than 25% written (this would be about 2500 words for a 10k fic). Your Big Bang fic CAN NOT already be an ongoing posted fic. While you are allowed to expand on and/or change an idea of a fic you previously wrote, we ask that it be able to stand alone, apart from anything previously written.
This will be a collaborative event, so you will want to talk with your artist about the story, and they may end up giving you ideas that will change what you’d originally worked on!What genres/warnings/ratings are allowed?Since NSFW themes are allowed in this event, participants are given more freedom. However, everything must be properly tagged with its correct warnings and ratings.Reminder: Not all NSFW is sexual content. It can also be death, extreme violence, gore, etc.Does my fic have to be betaed?No. But Beta Readers are there for support! They can also help in other aspects such as grammar, plot/flow, cultural/sensitivity, and research.Are Sideships allowed?Sideships are allowed but should not be the main focus.__Can you explain more about the summary writers need to provide for the sign-up?__In order to give artists the best idea about what piece they would like to work on, writers are asked to submit the following information: Rating, Content Warnings (similar to ao3's system. Also include if your fic will have dead dove content and whether it will have an unhappy ending.), Additional Characters (Background ships are allowed, but must be disclosed as part of your pitch.), Tags, and a summary of no more than 400 words, which must indicate a beginning, middle, and end of your story. You may make edits to your summary until the form closes on January 30th. After that time, no edits can be made and what you have submitted is what will be used to create the anonymous Claim Auction sheets that will be available for artists to choose from.

Does this event allow NSFW Art?NSFW and Dark content is allowed but must be posted behind a lockable site (Privatter, Poipiku).What if I want to draw a NSFW scene?NSFW scenes are allowed if you would like. Please post a SFW preview, cropped version, or a censored preview of it while including a link to Privatter/ Popiku for those who are 18+.What size do art pieces need to be?This is up to the Artist’s discretion but Traditional Art pieces must be scanned/photographed clearly with a 720p resolution or higher and Digital Art pieces should be set to 150dpi or higher.__Q: Can fully rendered pieces be in black and white?__Yes! Artist pieces can be either in black and white or color, just make sure to talk this over with your writer, too!Are comics allowed?Yep! Comics are allowed.Where will the artwork be posted?Where ever the artist wishes. Artwork can also be either posted or linked in your Author's fic post on Ao3.Can we draw traditionally for this event?Yes. Artists can submit a traditional drawing if they choose to do so but pieces must be scanned/photographed clearly with a 720p resolution or higher.What does the claims slideshow look like?
